I did struggle with how to characterize her. There's a level where I didn't really want her to seem human and then that felt pointless--who cares what happens to some machine. I didn't really think of her as a bitch when I was writing it, more like another consumer programmed by a force beyond her comprehension. Maybe she is a bitch and I did inadvertently give her some characterization, something I shall now consider.
